To Equip young women with the necessary knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities to effect global progress for young women and girls.

The program empowers young women who become involved by
providing experiences that foster active learning in a participative environment. Important aspects of the program are:

The popular summer "College Experience" retreat
Inter-generational Networking
Leadership CONNECTIONS uses the positive features of the participant's personality, enabling them to make good decisions concerning the workplace, the community, and their overall development as a person. The information is introduced in a variety of methods, each selected to optimize understanding and retention by the participants. Presentation formats will utilize demonstrations, hands-on experiential learning, motivational speakers, educational videos, simulated games, guided writing assignments, community service assignments, structured training and feedback retreats.

Want to Become a Participant?


Leadership CONNECTIONS provides educational activities and creative opportunities for young women ages 14-17, who might not otherwise receive them. Potential candidates may be characterized by one or more of the following:
Develop leadership potential and unchallenged gifts
Interest in volunteerism and community service
A desire to
Improve or reinforce self- esteem
Interest in a career skill building/self- development program
Motivation to enhance academic performance
Improve PSAT/SAT scores

Qualified participants are also identified through a collaborative effort among the Council's Region Directors, school counselors, Juvenile Court personnel, youth agencies, churches and civic organizations. A culturally diverse group of 14 to 17 year old at-risk female teens are selected from across North Carolina. Each year, the selection process yields participants who meet one or more of the selection criteria.



Since the creation of Leadership CONNECTIONS in 1991, that they represent an untapped source of future leadership.
